[Well this is... new. For those who know Ruby, they're probably used to see her as a bouncing ball of energy and excitement. Which isn't a bad thing - Ruby's a pretty upbeat kid who just wants to keep making sure her friends always feel that way too!

But now... now she looks a bit withdrawn. Not outright upset, but she most certainly has the look of someone that's really being bugged by something.]

I kinda have a question. People have been talking about their friends disappearing, and it kinda got me wondering...

When someone returns home, what if they... knew things. About stuff that happened that they didn't experience yet, 'cause someone knows what happened to them in the future, and told them about it.

Do you think... could what happened to them later on change, then?

I told Penny, and Yang too 'cause she doesn't know about the stuff me and Weiss know, but

so before we showed up here, there was a festival going on in Vale
people and Huntsmen and Huntresses from all over Remnant were coming to Vale to celebrate, and the highlight was the Vytal Festival, where all the students from the top Huntsman schools would compete
me and my friends were really good! We made it all the way to the finals!
but that's when things got really bad
some weird stuff was happening, like it looked like Yang broke this guy Mercury's leg after their match ended (she won of course)
and I talked to one of my friends and she said that in an earlier doubles match, her partner hallucinated - when she and one of their teammates were fighting Mercury and his teammate
so something seemed really off about them???

so when I saw Mercury's teammate in the crowd before the next match I went off to see if I could investigate
but then MERCURY was there and he was OKAY and when I tried getting past him he tried to ATTACK ME and he was just stalling because the next match was Penny versus my friend Pyrrha who can manipulate metal and stuff and
something happened
something really bad happened
and I was too late to help

because if it was never in your power to do anything then why were you even there
what good are you for

it's great that she's here, I'll never say it's a bad thing for her

[There's the sound of stumbling and a brief yip, and a moment later, Ruby opens the door, a rather disgruntled-looking Drei settling down again, tail tucked under him.

Ruby herself doesn't look all that bad thankfully, though her eyes and nose look a bit red around the edges.]

Room service? Geez, so fancy...

If you want real fancy, I could've brought you a latte with a milk tulip in it. I'm getting pretty good.

[His smile is wan as he offers her the lemonade, but it's there.]

[She takes the lemonade, but honestly, she looks a bit more interested in that other thing.]

Whoa, what?? You can make those things? That's so cool...!

It is my job, Ru. What kind of sadsack barista would I be if I couldn't?

I don't mind taking a couple seconds to impress the people, I guess. And you would not believe the tips I rake in for it.

Can you actually make a living owning little kids for their lunch money? I mean, not that I would, I just figured it wasn't a viable financial strategy.

Well, there's always the gym leaders, right? They give out a lot of money when you beat 'em! Sounds like a good money-making strategy to me,
