[There's a bit of a clatter when the video turns on, and the view is a bit skewed; a sideways shot of the very same house all non-Rockets wake up in. A pair of black and red boots can be seen pacing back and forth, their owner reaching down and grabbing a few other things that had spilled from their bag, along with the 'gear.]

Miss, I don't-- [The owner of the fear - a young girl it seems - halts as "Mom" continues to drone on with her usual spiel, a slight whine in her voice as she impatiently bounces on the balls of her feet.]

Miss, I really don't think you-- I mean, I really appreciate this, I guess!! But you're not really... [Sigh. She's not really listening is she? Guess she has no choice...]

[The words rush out all in one breath, and with a flurry of footsteps, the girl is gone.

... Without her Pokegear.

Luckily, a moment later a Houndour appears, grabbing the device in its mouth and running off. The camera jostles around a bit but stops soon enough, with the girl - dressed all in red and black, wrapped in a hooded red cape, and black hair cut short - finally in full view.]

What- yikes!

[She jumps back, shock on her face and a small bit of fear in her eyes. After a moment, though, she leans a little closer.]

You... you're not a Grimm, are you?

[A muffled bark comes from the Houndour holding the gear, and it's only then that the girl notices the device and quickly grabs it. After giving it a quick once-over to determine what exactly it is, she turns it in what she hopes is the right direction...!]

Uh... mayday, mayday! SOS! Some other distress call! .... Help? Geez, I don't know what I should be saying here...

[FOCUS. Okay. Breathe in, breathe out.]

T-This is Ruby Rose, leader of Team RWBY, and I have no idea where I am! This, uh... this isn't Vale, is it?

[As her adrenaline starts to fade, Ruby's shoulders slump.]

I... I gotta get back. Like, right now! There are a whole lot of people that need help...

[WHOA okay that... is the first time someone's called Ruby that! Despite everything, she can't help but look a little flustered.]

A-A hero? Well, kinda... but not yet, really! I'm still in training and all, so it's kinda complicated.

[translation: I kinda get stuck in a lot of trouble but wind up helping people anyway.]

Yeah, for claiming to be everyone's mom, she doesn't really do much to help, does she?

A hero in training is still, well...a hero!

[It definitely isn't like she's less cool than a full-time hero to her.]

She's not helpful AT ALL... [Kaori winces, crossing her arms on her chest. Moms are supposed to feed their kids and wake them up so they wouldn't oversleep...among many things, that is.] But I guess we won't see each other unless she opens those door.

[Which doesn't seem to be likely.]

I'm not sure how we even ended up here or where's the way out...but until you find it, you can help people here, I guess?

I've talked to some people already- [she holds up her Gear for emphasis] - and they've all said there's no way out. So... I guess maybe I should focus on that!

... Except this place seems pretty peaceful, so I don't think there's much use for a monster-hunter here.

[She deflates, but it certainly doesn't seem like the new information is going to shatter her world. It's just like she's about to say "Oh, well!" and move on.

Which, in fact, she does.]

I heard we're supposed to catch these creatures and train them...so it's a little bit like monster hunting? Just without anyone getting hurt.

[Then she takes a glimpse at Houndour and gulps.]

It's yours, right? Does it bite?

I dunno... it still seems a lot different than monster hunting.

[This is all about making friends with them and stuff. With Grimm, it's just... kill or be killed.]

And yeah, I think so! He won't stop following me around at least. He's been a really sweet little guy so far!

[The houndour barks in agreement! He's been on his best behavior, okay!]

If you say so! I'm not a monster hunter after all, I've just chased some cats before! But you can't compare that, I guess...

[Kaori here is more of a cat person, but it doesn't mean she wouldn't squat down and pat Houndour on the head. That's when an Igglybuff that has been hiding behind Kaori pokes her head out and looks up at Ruby.]

Have you given him a name already? I'm still thinking how should I name this little girl down there...

It's... different, yeah. But chasing cats doesn't sound so bad! I mean, you get to pet them in the end, and that's better than anything you can do with a Grimm.

[YES GOOD HOUNDOUR LOVES PETS. Or at least, it seems that way, with how he happily barks and wags his stubby little tail. Such a nice lady...!]

I'm gunna name him Drei, I think! We had a dog named Zwei back home, so... it's fitting, I think!

What are those Grimms anyway? Some kind of pets from your place?

[Little does she know...

Seeing how happy Houndour is after just a few pats, she tries to scratch him behind one of his ears. He's just too adorable not to!]

That's true! I like it too. I still have to think up a name for my own...

N-No, they're monsters. Not cute friendly ones like these... they hunt people, they try to destroy everything. They're horrible, and it's only the Huntsmen and Huntresses that stand between them and the innocent people of Remnant.

Oh...come to think of it, even their species' name doesn't sound too likeable...

[Kaori stands up and straightens her back, gazing at the other girl. It may be just her, but Ruby can definitely use a pat too. Which Kaori provides with a soft smile.]

Being a leader must be tough. Don't worry, everything will be fine! People of that Rem...Remnant place are really lucky to have heroes like you!
