[Well this is... new. For those who know Ruby, they're probably used to see her as a bouncing ball of energy and excitement. Which isn't a bad thing - Ruby's a pretty upbeat kid who just wants to keep making sure her friends always feel that way too!

But now... now she looks a bit withdrawn. Not outright upset, but she most certainly has the look of someone that's really being bugged by something.]

... Hey, guys.

[Geez, even the way she talks is a bit deflated.]

I kinda have a question. People have been talking about their friends disappearing, and it kinda got me wondering...

When someone returns home, what if they... knew things. About stuff that happened that they didn't experience yet, 'cause someone knows what happened to them in the future, and told them about it.

Do you think... could what happened to them later on change, then?

I mean, we could dress up again? [ That was her second-favorite part of that one night. Second only to destroying that mech, and edging out threatening Junior, which is always a good time. ]

... As long as I don't have to wear heels again, I'm all for the dressing up.

Heh. You did fiiine in them! Just — well, I don't we'll be getting into any fights here any time soon. [ Hopefully. Yang's still weirded out about how peaceful it is. ]

If you critique something, it means you analyze or evaluate it.
Anything can be analyzed or evaluated, even yourself.

However, the problem when you try to critique yourself is that you're not objective. It can be frighteningly easy to put too much responsibility on your shoulders because you want to have been able to do something more.

I don't know the situation myself, so I can't say if you're right or wrong in what you could have done...

But you shouldn't be too hard on yourself.

[That gets her an affectionate hair-ruffle.]

Eh, not particularly, probably. Besides, I'm only interested in scaling the echeladder if it pays out sweet dollar, girl. Effort? Pah.

But that can't just be it. To make something as pretty as that stuff... you have to really like what you're doing, right?

... But yeah, that's another good thing about this place. The worst kinda fights are super intense battles, and at least those are fun.

[ Yang conceded on the topic of heels to her sister with a raised hand. It wasn't something everyone could deal with and there was nothing wrong with that. Just that... she maybe wanted something more in common with Ruby. They were alike in some ways, but still individuals. ]

Speaking of intense battles, isn't it about time we go after our gym badges? We... kinda skipped some on the way out here. From what I heard from Penny, there's no way my crew would be ready to take on Whitney first, I dunno about everyone else's.

Like I said, you're my best friend.

I mean- before I met you there wasn't-

[Falling silent for a second, trying to put words to something she'd thought was too obvious to need further definition.]

You accepted me for what I was with no hesitation or question. Told me I was real, that I have a soul. Something I'm not even sure I- ...it meant a lot to me. Means a lot.

[Man, it's still so hard to keep track of what's only specific to his world.]

I don't mind taking a couple seconds to impress the people, I guess. And you would not believe the tips I rake in for it.

... I'm glad I could make that feel special for you.

[Her face feels warm. But... it's not a bad sort of warm. Not like when she's sweating in the middle of a fight or on a hot summer day. It's more like the kind of warmth you feel when you wrap yourself up in a fluffy scarf.

She kinda doesn't want it to stop.]

And it still means a lot that you trusted me enough to tell me, y'know? I wouldn't be upset if you didn't, I can understand why you were scared, but... not a lot of people trust me with big, life-changing secrets.

[Only Penny and Blake, really.]

Bringing in the big money, huh? Does it beat battling?

[Oh, right. They kinda rushed forward without thinking much when they first arrived, didn't they? Not that Ruby would complain, considering why they rushed ahead...]

Psh, you think I'm gunna say no to traveling and battling? This city is fun and all, but it can't beat that kinda fun!

Can you actually make a living owning little kids for their lunch money? I mean, not that I would, I just figured it wasn't a viable financial strategy.

[Ducking her head a little as her cheeks flush a bit. This... probably isn't the best time for THAT.]

I just wish I'd had the courage to tell you on my own.

[And probably also not the best time to change the topic back to regrets. She takes a step back, forcing a bright smile and holding out a hand for Ruby to take.]
